Zootropolis. A police bunny you say?

Zootropolis: a film review

When my son was adamant this was the film we had to watch I was filled with the usual ‘oh no’ as my initial thoughts. I am the Grinch of kids films. Especially the stupid ones. I bet you’re thinking of the films you think are stupid right now. My biggest pet hate are films like Despicable Me. I could name many! Now I don’t hate all kids films. Toy Story is still my number one favourite film and I love Wreck-It Ralph just to name a couple. I am not a total Grinch lol. Both of my children were super excited to see Zootropolis.

I had to disappoint the family though. I bloody loved it! It is one of the sweetest (in a typically predictable kind of a way) films. It has Disney all over it. The animation is amazing, the story has the right amount of hero and moral fibre to it, and the police bunny is probably the cutest hero ever. If you don’t see the credits spot the famous voices. There are some big names in this film. My favourite being Idris Elba, I do have a soft spot for him.

In true Disney style there are a couple of good songs to go with the film and one famous singer Shakira. I guarantee you leave the cinema singing the closing credits song. We did!

Considering what you might pay good money to watch at a cinema I really do recommend Zootropolis.

Just make sure you don’t do what I did and stop watching exactly how many sweets your 7 year old is eating. Thankfully the sickness hasn’t translated into vomit! Yet…..

Disclaimer: like the true idiot I am sometimes it took my boy to point out I had remembered the title wrong. Really I just preferred Zootopia… ?

Toy Unboxing!?!

If you have children you probably know all about the craze of toy unboxing on YouTube. My two have been obsessed with unboxing for ages. Mention the name Disney Collector and they are happy as Larry. I don’t think I have ever seen as many Kinder Eggs in my life as during some Disney Collector videos. All kinds of toy collectors do these videos from both sides of the big pond.

My eldest does everything as a YouTube commentary. It seemed only natural that he gave the unboxing a go when he spent his hard earned pocket money on a new Wii U game.

The main reason I’m encouraging this is it can only help his literacy work in school. His challenge is to think of as many wow words and connectives as possible (sadly he had to remind me what a connective was lol). It is much harder when you’re talking on the spot, rather than sitting and thinking for ages.  He got a huge amount of confidence from producing his video. I have managed to persuade him he has no need to go looking for comments just in case. This is more about him, his interests and a bit of Mum and son bonding time over a video camera project.

Education takes place in the strangest of ways sometimes!

Why didn’t I know this before?

All those broken nails, all those tooth marks on the pieces. It’s taken my 7 year old son to point out that this orange thing is for breaking Lego apart. Who knew?!

It reminds me of the posts about baby envelope vests that should be pulled down, not over the head. It’s so blindingly obvious that you can’t see it.

So if you’re reading this and haven’t realised what the weird orange bit is for I hope I’ve saved you the embarrassment of appearing a bit dull in front of your Lego fanatic.

You Tube! Our little project..

Our You Tube Project

My son has a great imagination, he’s very creative and I have hit on a lovely idea to harness that and do something I really enjoy. Considering how many hours he spends watching YouTube videos, it seemed logical to have a go making our own YouTube animation videos.

We’re making videos together. Yesterday I uploaded the first ones on You Tube. His face when he saw them live on our channel Toy Infinity was amazing. Even if nobody else watches them, the pride on his face was superb. Now, I’m hoping to develop our video making to bigger and better things but in the meantime he is enjoying it and learning.

There’s a huge amount of computer skill to editing a video, adding sounds and commentary. He is coming up with some amazing ideas, like the mixed up jigsaw one. And if I could bottle his excitement at one more view I would have endless energy on those days I didn’t get enough sleep.

This is the link to the Thomas jigsaw one. I hope you like it, if you could share it, it would make the day of a 7 year old boy and his 39 year old mum.
